Equine and Livestock Veterinary Services in Minot, North Dakota

The Minot Veterinary Clinic has been servicing the city of Minot and surrounding areas since 1953 when it was founded. To this day, our practice employs veterinarians with farming backgrounds. We are staffed by two full-time license veterinarians, one part-time veterinarian, two veterinary assistants, and two receptionists. Currently, our practice areas stretch from Ross to Towner, Garrison to the Canadian border, Bowbells to Anamoose, and New Town to Bottineau providing on the farm services along with haul-in facilities for equine, bovine, swine, caprine, and ovine client needs.

We offer in-house blood work (CBC & Chems), fecal exams, digital radiographs (in the clinic or on the farm), portable ultrasound machines, intrastate & international health papers along with collecting samples for required tests, and your farm or at our clinic reproductive and herd health work.

Meet our Veterinarians

Dr. Russell Behm, ’78 UMN

Dr. Russell Behm originates from the Burlington, ND area and still has family involved in farming and ranching in the area. He attended Des Lacs-Burlington school and graduated from Minot State College with a degree in medical technology. He graduated from the University of Minnesota in 1978 and then completed an internship in large animal medicine and surgery at Colorado State University. In September of 1979, he joined the staff at Minot Veterinary Clinic. He enjoys equine medicine and reproduction as well as general practice.
He and his wife, Pam lives east of Minot and have three grown children. Besides working at Minot Veterinary Clinic, he is involved with his family’s cattle herd, woodworking and enjoys the outdoors.

Dr. Carin Frenchick, ’08 UMN

Dr. Carin Frenchick is originally from central Minnesota growing up on a dairy farm. She attended Iowa State University where she received her BS in Dairy Science; then following in her father’s footsteps attended University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine. Upon graduation, she worked in Todd County, Minnesota doing mixed animals work, where she met Mario. In 2013, Mario & Carin sold their dairy farm and moved to the Minot area, and she started working at Minot Veterinary Clinic in December of 2013.
Carin and Mario live in Minot with their four young children. When not at work, Carin spends her time with her children, helping with bookwork for Mario’s business, or traveling to Minnesota to see family.

Dr. Carter Braaflat, ’81 ISU

Dr. Carter Braaflat grew up in Plaza, ND and attended UND-Williston and NDSU for undergraduate work. He graduated from Iowa State University in 1981 with a degree in Veterinary Medicine. Following graduation, he worked in Bismarck and in February 1982 he moved to Minot to work at Minot Veterinary Clinic. Dr. Carter especially enjoys cattle and herd work.
Carter and his wife Cindy have three grown children and four grandchildren. When not working, Dr. Carter enjoys spending time visiting with family and friends and making his lawn greener than his neighbors.

Professionalism and friendliness come to mind when speaking about Dr. Frenchick. It is very reassuring to have a veterinarian who always available whenever I have a question. Dr. Frenchick has performed numerous c-sections on our cattle. Her work is always performed with a high degree of compassion for both patient and owner.
